Interestingly, the Zoom app has been around since 2013. However, the video conferencing platform gained popularity mostly during the Covid-19 pandemic. Amongst the benefits — users increased, sales went up, and the zoom brand got much recognition as it is now known across the globe.

Through the Real Research app, a survey was conducted regarding Zoom user satisfaction. Real Research users from across the globe participated in the survey and below are the results. Read on:

Zoom a Popular Video Conferencing Platform Mostly Used for Work Meetings

Seemingly, most people know about the Zoom video conference platform. Results derived from the Real Research survey show that 82.01% of the respondents have heard about Zoom. This means Zoom is a widely used platform. On the other hand,17.99% have never heard about it.

Likewise, Real Research sought to know the public opinion regarding Zoom use cases. Therefore, what do people mostly use the zoom video conference platform for? Here are the results extracted from the survey.

To begin with, 40.01% use Zoom for ‘Work meetings’. Secondly, 17.83% answered that they utilize zoom for ‘School/University/College lessons’. Following after, 11.17% note that they use the platform for ‘Business purposes’. In the top five use cases, we also have 6.75% who say to ‘Chat with friends’ and  2.36% ‘Communicate with family’.

Zoom Free Is the Most Used Zoom Package Globally

Zoom offers various packages for its wide clientele across the globe. The Zoom meetings survey results have shown that Zoom Free (57.17%) is the most used package.

Specifically, it offers free 40-minute conference calls with up to 100 attendees. Thus, Zoom Free is the app’s main selling point, at least to the broader consumer world. Also, 13.42% say that they use Zoom Pro that allows hosts to use personal meeting IDs for repetitive Zoom meetings.

Following then are Zoom Business with (4.75%) and Zoom Rooms (3.78%). Lastly, the zoom meetings survey results show that 1.09% of the participants use Zoom Enterprise. This package allows businesses with 1000+ employees to join the meeting. Moreover, it offers unlimited cloud storage for recordings.

Furthermore, amongst the features offered by Zoom, 55.40% like using HD video and audio. Meanwhile, 8.50% like the audio-only conference. Moving on, 4.22% use the custom personal meeting ID. Also, 3.61% use cross-platform messaging. Then, 2.66% mostly prefer using the waiting rooms.

55.20% Say Zoom Is Easy to Set Up, Use, and Manage

Every video conferencing platform offers unique features to attract clients. Though there are a host of alternative platforms, what are the zoom meeting advantages? Firstly, 55.20% note that Zoom is easier to set up, use, and manage.

Moving on with the zoom meeting advantages, 11.50% like that Zoom allows up to 500 participants on a video call. Even more, others like that the platform offers free video calls for up to 40 minutes (7.30%), and 1.78% like that it works seamlessly across all operating systems. This includes PC, iOS, Android, Mac, and Linux. Last but not least, 1.15% say that ‘I can use the platform for various reasons (business, friends, calls, work, etc)’.

Real Research further went on to ask how satisfied respondents are with Zoom features. Very satisfied (48.32%), somewhat satisfied (19.24%), and neutral (9.70%).

When Not Using Zoom People Utilize Microsoft Teams the Most

Although there are many video conferencing platforms, people have a choice on which one they prefer to use. Without a doubt, Zoom user satisfaction is high, as chosen by many participants saying that they are very satisfied with Zoom features. However, aside from Zoom what other video conferencing platforms do respondents use?

To begin with, the majority of respondents expressed that they use Microsoft teams (29.86%). Following after, 23.46% use Google Hangouts/Meet. Additionally, Skype (9.26%), GoToMeeting (6.03%), and Cisco Webex ( 2.63%).

Respondents in the Real Research survey also gave answers as to why they prefer Zoom over physical meetings. Results are as follows: I do not have to dress up and leave the house (33.74%). It keeps me and my family safe from the pandemic as I can have meetings at home (24.95%). Everyone can connect from all parts of the world (14.96%) and short and quick meeting sessions (2.23%).

How To Safeguard Data on Zoom

There are a lot of ways on how to make Zoom meetings safe. As per the Real Research results, 43.50% say they use the ‘Manage screen sharing’ feature mostly to safeguard data.

Moving on, 15.63% say they lock the meeting. Meanwhile, 7.72% set up the two-factor authentication to make their Zoom meetings safe. Also, 5.12% of the respondents disable video and mute participants on Zoom. Adding on, is Zoom safe on data confidentiality? Firstly, 46.80% answered ‘Very safe’ and 23.03% said ‘Somewhat safe’.

To sum up the results, Zoom users are satisfied with the features provided by the platform. More so, Zoom Free is the most utilized package for the Zoom platform. On the other hand, there is a need for Zoom to keep on implementing measures that ensure data safety on the platform.
