Usually, people calm down after venting it out in front of a person who is a good listener and shows some sympathy that he/she is desperately looking for.

However, according to a recent paper published in Clinical Psychology Review, venting out won’t help manage your anger.

Researchers analyzed arousal-increasing activities, like venting or running, and arousal-decreasing activities, like meditation or yoga. After conducting 154 studies on more than 10,000 participants, it was found that arousal-decreasing activities, like meditation, helped people better manage anger.

Vishen Lakhiani, a meditation expert and CEO of Mindvalley, recommends meditating for no more than 20 minutes a day. He stated, “For most people, 15 to 20 minutes will give you just the changes that you need. You can take a one-to-three-minute dip into peacefulness, and you can see remarkable results.”
