A holiday is an event where one can feel a burst of emotions. In fact, they can feel heaps of these most diverse emotions. Holidays have become an integral part of people’s life. For instance, popular holidays and celebrations such as Christmas or New Year’s Eve usually affect the emotional condition of both children and adults. Truly, during these festive times, people can forget about work, problems, or any other issues.

Furthermore, different holidays are celebrated across the world every year. Although, some are of greater significance than others, depending on what individuals and nations value most. In particular, the most globally celebrated holidays include Christmas, Ramadan, New Year, Chinese New Year, Diwali, and Easter. Furthermore, each holiday has its own history, roots, traditions, and customs. As a result, in most cases, it is the custom that appears to distinguish one celebration from another.

Accordingly, Real Research conducted a survey to know about the most celebrated holidays in the world. What are the most celebrated holidays globally? In line with this, what kind of gift do people like to receive? Furthermore, with who do they mostly spend holidays? Let us find out through results obtained from the Real Research online survey application.

Christmas Is the Most Celebrated Holiday

To start with, 72% of the participants celebrate holidays. Next, we asked respondents which holidays do they personally celebrate. As expected, the majority (28.43%) celebrates Christmas. Ramadan, and Eid al-Fitr take second place as 14.38% of the respondents celebrate these holidays. Following that, 10.94%, 6.42%, 5.95% celebrate Diwali, New Year’s Eve, and Chinese New Year respectively.

Furthermore, the minority celebrates Easter, Hanukkah, Independence Day, and Valentine’s day, says 2.76%, 2.34%, 2.04, and 1.10%. Still, there are lots of other holidays people celebrate as 25.15% of the respondents chose the ‘Other’ option.

People Like to Attend Event Celebrations For Certain Holidays

The next question we asked through the Real Research online survey application is what respondents usually do most on holidays. Almost 23% of the participants attend event celebrations for these holidays. The next favorite thing for them to do is to visit family and friends as 16.19% chose this option.

Remarkably, almost 10% of the respondents usually eat as much food as they can during holidays. Well, this is understandable as there are usually lots of dishes being prepared specifically for these holidays. Meanwhile, 6.91%, 6.06%, 5.96%, and 3.54% go to a religious gathering, stay at home, meet people, and go for a vacation. Not limited to this, people do so much more during holidays, as 27.55% chose the ‘Other’ option.

In This Case, Family Comes First

Accordingly, we next asked our respondents who they spend their holidays with. Remarkably, almost 34% of the participants spend holidays with their families. Surprisingly, 20.49% spend holidays alone. In line with this, 8.71%, 8.90%, and 2.63% of the respondents spend holidays with their friends, partners, and colleagues. On the contrary, 28.40% chose the ‘Other’ option.

Respondents Chose Money Over Other Gifts

Lastly, we asked respondents what kind of gifts would they prefer to receive on holidays where they exchange gifts. With a share of commercialism, nearly 22.04% of the participants prefer to receive money as a gift. Vouchers or gift cards are the second most preferred option (21.91). The honorable third place went to ‘Clothes’ and ‘Shoes’ with 10.49%.

Meanwhile, less desirable gifts are smartphones and tablets, cosmetics and perfumes, jewelry, and electronics. In addition, almost 30% of the respondents chose the ‘Others’ option.

The most vivid and memorable events are usually very often linked with people’s holiday celebrations. Thanks to the holidays, family traditions arise along with pleasant memories, collective photographs, and noisy companies. That’s why, for many of us, holidays are very important.
