Vitamins are an essential component of maintaining a healthy body. Most foods contain sufficient vitamins and minerals to ensure the best health. However, sometimes vitamins from food exclusively can be insufficient, especially if one has deficiencies in the same. Thus, people rely on vitamin supplements for nourishment.

However, people have varying opinions about taking vitamins or vitamin supplements in particular. Thus, Real Research conducted a survey on the popularity of taking vitamins and what society has to say about the same. Here are the results.

Highlights:

  • 86.17% consume vitamin supplements
  • 66.14% consume vitamins to strengthen their immunity
  • 49.10% mostly take vitamin A

The Majority Reveal That They Take Vitamins

The survey starts with a poll on whether respondents take vitamins. All 86.17% consume vitamin supplements, whereas 13.83% do not.

Additionally, the survey asks respondents — why do people take vitamins? To this, 68.49% say it was a doctor’s recommendation. Meanwhile, 9.83% say pharmacist’s advice, 8.52% say it was advice from friends or family, and 5.87% say due to the change of season. Moreover, 3.86% sat they are paranoid about being low on vitamins. Lastly, 2.74% say an influencer they follow suggested taking vitamins.

Next, the survey asks about the public opinion on the types of vitamins respondents take. In reply, 65.15% chose tablets, 15.37% chose capsules, and 7.38% chose syrups. A further 4.14% chose powder and 3.09% chose dragee.

Respondents’ View on Vitamin Supplements vs a Balanced Diet

The survey goes on to ask about the public opinion on whether there is no need to take vitamins if one consumes a healthy balanced diet. To this, a majority of 55.44% strongly agree, while 22.85% agree. However, 14.55% are neutral and 7.15% disagree.

Additionally, the survey continues to ask how many times a year respondents take vitamin supplements. In response, 53.17% say ‘once a year’ and 26.54% say ‘2-3 times a year’. A further 10.23% say ‘4-5 times a year’ and 10.05% take vitamins ‘more than 6 times a year’.

To specify, the survey asks what vitamins respondents mostly take. To this, a majority of 49.10% take vitamin A, while 25.28% take vitamin C, and 10.51% take vitamin D. Moreover, 4.30% take vitamin E, and 2.47% take vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin).

The Majority Take Vitamins To Strengthen Immunity

To highlight, the survey asks respondents what is the purpose of taking vitamins? In answer, 66.14% take vitamins to strengthen their immunity. Meanwhile, 14.22% take vitamins to compensate for a lack of individual vitamins and trace elements.

Adding on, 5.61% take vitamins to improve metabolism and work of the gastrointestinal tract, while 4.80% take them for muscle building. Lastly, 3.60% take vitamins to improve their appearance while 2.26% take vitamins to follow a common trend.

To conclude, the survey asks respondents’ opinions on how important is it to take vitamins. Here, all 55.72% suggest taking vitamins as being very important while 15.58% say it is somewhat important. Moreover, 19.59% are neutral about taking vitamins and 9.11% feel it is not important.
