Humanity continues to surpass itself with incredible feats in technology, science, engineering, and innovation. All of these have contributed to great leaps in the advancement of transportation. At first, machine modes of transportation were only available to the rich. Eventually, they became available on a large scale to the public.

Arguably, the steam engine was likely the first-ever greatest contribution to public transportation on land. As for the waters, ships and boats had that covered for centuries. Likewise, innovations throughout history gave us plenty more. So much so that now we have more than enough choices to choose from.

However, transportation services still come with tiered services. This allows for competition within the sector, which, in turn, allows consumers to enjoy a variety of choices. Certainly, transportation has come a long way since the invention of the wheel. At this rate, it seems there is nothing humanity cannot conquer.

Presently, we have access to faster modes of public transportation. Some are between short distances like the metro and subway lines. Meanwhile, others take us across borders and oceans like airplanes and the much-awaited Hyperloop. Soon, we may even see public transportation to space.
