Olympus Spa in Washington has been ordered by the court to accept transgender women with male reproductive organs after a lawsuit was filed against the spa for the same.

This comes after Haven Wilich, a local transgender activist, was refused to be accepted in the nude, women-only spa on the grounds that only “post-op” transgender women are allowed. Wilvich filed a complaint citing discriminatory reasons.

There has been much debate about pre and post-operative transgender women, that is, women who have their male reproductive organs or not. Most of the debate surrounding the matter is whether or not transgender women with male organs should be allowed into places such as spas, public washrooms, and such.

The Washington State Human Rights Commission (WSHRC) ordered Olympus Spa to remove the “biological women only” policy, allowing trans customers with male reproductive organs to enter the spa.

Olympus Spa owner, Myoon Woon Lee, has sued to reverse the court’s decision, saying it defies his “traditional, theologically conservative” Christian values and puts his clientele at risk.

However, WSHRC investigator Madison Imiola argued that banning trans customers like Wilvich was discrimination. She further claimed that the commission “does not use genitals to define gender identity and… recognizes that a person’s gender identity can be different from the biological sex assigned to that person at birth.”

The matter has sparked widespread controversy and mixed opinions. Hence, Real Research launched a survey on the Washington court ordering women-only spas to accept transgender women.
