Education has evolved to cater to allow learning and opportunity for everyone. Education was limited to the affluent and elite in the past, keeping the lower classes uneducated. Now, there are many different forms of education available to all — the main three being formal, informal, and non-formal education.

Formal education is a structured and systematic form of learning. This type of education is usually delivered to students by trained teachers and held at a school, university, or college. Formal education constitutes primary, secondary, tertiary, and vocational education.

Informal education, on the other hand, is a more optional and loose type of education. This type of education happens outside the classroom and often involves approaches such as self-learning, online courses, and apprenticeships.

Meanwhile, non-formal education is considered more like a combination of formal and informal education. There is no syllabus or curriculum, and teachers are not required to be certified or licensed to educate students. Non-formal education, on the other hand, is more organized than informal learning and includes approaches such as workshops, seminars, and conferences, among other things.

There are also other types of education aside from the three main ones. These include vocational education, adult education, distance education, alternative education, global education, and experiential education, among other things.
