Images of a Chinese surveillance balloon floating above a large swath of the United States went viral over the weekend, and there have been reports of similar balloons flying over the United States’ mainland in recent years.

One of those balloons is said to have flown over Florida.

On February 4, a U.S. fighter jet fired one missile into a high-altitude Chinese surveillance balloon. As a result, it sent plunging into the Atlantic Ocean.

According to US officials, the balloon was about 200 ft tall with a payload that weighed hundreds, or potentially thousands, of pounds. On the other hand, China claims that the balloon was for civilian use and entered the US due to “force majeure.”

US-China Relations

The discovery of the balloon has caused a rift in US-China relations, with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken canceling a high-level US-China meeting in China due to the “irresponsible act.” The Pentagon attempted to arrange a phone call between Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and his Chinese counterpart, but China declined the request.

The balloon was retrieved off the coast of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and its debris was spread over seven miles of the Atlantic Ocean. The US military has sent two naval ships and deployed crewless underwater vehicles to assist in the search effort.

The wreckage of the balloon could provide valuable insight into Chinese aerial surveillance technology and techniques. However, efforts to recover the equipment have been complicated by concerns over potentially dangerous materials, such as explosives or battery components.

The US military tracked the strange object on Thursday and waited until it was safely over water before shooting it down. Footage on US TV networks showed the balloon falling to the sea after a small explosion.

With the outcome of the examination of the debris and the potential for future US-China interactions remaining to be seen, Real Research launched a survey to gather public opinions.

Hence, hurry and answer the survey on the suspected Chinese balloon over the US territory on the Real Research app from February 10, 2023. After that, you will receive 60 TNCs as a reward.
