Following the conclusion of The Game Awards 2022, numerous announcements and controversies emerged. New trailers for The Super Mario Bros. Movie and Death Stranding 2 were unveiled at the event. Meanwhile, Elden Ring and God of War Ragnarok stole the awards ceremony by winning multiple awards each. By the end of the awards ceremony, however, a controversial stage interruption by a 15-year-old had occurred.

The Game Awards is an annual ceremony celebrating the best of the video game industry. It is a 3-hour event with musical performances, exclusive trailers and announcements, and an award show. The Game Awards is produced by Geoff Keighly and Kimmie Kim, with Keighly hosting the event.

Because of The Game Awards’ popularity, it has become a venue for large studios to unveil their projects. Among the most significant announcements in this year’s iteration were Death Stranding 2, Hades 2, Crash Team Rumble, Armored Core VI, Crime Boss: Rockay City, and a new trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

Elden Ring won the Game of the Year award, while God of War Ragnarok nabbed the most awards. Other nominated titles were A Plague Tale: Requiem, Horizon Forbidden West, Stray, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Apex Legends, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, Genshin Impact, Final Fantasy XIV, and Destiny 2: The Witch Queen, among other titles.

One of the most controversial aspects of The Game Awards 2022 was the stage interruption of Elden Ring’s award acceptance by a 15-year-old. The teenager walked up to the stage alongside the Elden Ring developers and waited until they gave their speech. Afterward, the teenager approached the microphone and, with a thick Israeli accent, said,

I want to thank everybody and say I think I want to nominate [sic] this award to my Reformed Orthodox [sic] rabbi Bill Clinton [sic]

According to Geoff Keighley, security then escorted the teenager off the stage and promptly arrested him.
