Survey on the Danger to World’s Palm Trees

Several studies have been conducted recently in various fields. Each of these studies then reveals some of the most significant findings. One such study was conducted recently on palm trees, revealing that over a thousand palm tree species are at risk of extinction.

The study further reveals which distinct genera and species are at risk of extinction. As palm trees are part of a vast plant family that provides millions daily with food, drink, and shelter, the possibility of extinction is raising concerns worldwide.

“We need to do all we can to protect biodiversity, and that encompasses more than a thousand palm species that we now know may be threatened,” said study leader Dr Sidonie Bellot of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, London.

This caused many to deliberate on the possible causes of extinction, including deforestation, urbanization, climate change, and global warming. What’s more concerning is the onset of global warming, and climate change is already taking its toll on the planet. Plant extinction will only add to the effects of climate change.

Therefore, in light of the recent studies about plant extinction, experts have urged the necessity for prompt responses and solutions.
