According to an official announcement, Dubai will start testing autonomous taxis and e-hailing services this year with the launch of driverless taxis by 2023. This will make the UAE one of the first cities outside of the United States to do so.

To highlight, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is set to deploy a limited number of autonomous cars in 2023. In fact, RTA plans to ramp up operations to 4,000 self-driving taxis by 2023. By then, Dubai hopes to make 56% of its taxi fleet environmentally friendly whilst converting 5% of its automobiles to autonomous vehicles.

The way the world is moving forward with technological advancements, our society has to adapt to new and innovative ideas. However, it is still up to the public to accept this upcoming change. Due to human error, road accidents are quite a common occurrence. In turn, driverless taxis will be much more vigilant. Thus, this technology will help control rising road accidents.

However, some are concerned about this move affecting the nation’s employment rate. After all, many make their living by driving taxis around the UAE. Another concerning factor could be passengers’ personal data and fear of piracy or data hacking. Lastly, there is also the possibility of a technical malfunction. Accordingly, Real Research launched a survey to guage public opinion on the matter.

Hence, hurry and share your opinion via the survey on public perception on driverless taxis in Dubai by 2023 on the Real Research app from May 25, 2022. After that, you will receive 10 TNC as a reward.
