It is hard to recall the learner phase of driving without actually remembering the early stage of hardships of obeying its sets of rules and regulations. The array of orders one has to be mindful of is just endless as it seems. Some safety precautions include adjusting the mirrors, wearing a seatbelt, and hitting the indicators on time on every maneuver. However, there are a few controversial ones not everyone is pleased to do, like whether or not to use both feet while driving. While some agree that it is safer that way, others raise concerns. That is why Real Research is surveying driving with two feet to see where the majority stand.

Several experts, including retired UCLA psychologist Richard A. Schmidt, believe using two feet can solve a big problem: accidents caused by drivers mistakenly hitting the gas pedal instead of the brake. Over 16,000 reports of crashes happen each year, which Schmidt says is a far higher number than we realize.

Pedal error, however, is a controversial topic, and some say that car’s electronic systems and stuck gas pedals are to be blamed for many of these crashes. Nonetheless, these system errors are responsible for only a few of them. Correspondingly, a few people like Schmidt have suggested that two-foot driving could be a solution. Furthermore, with the growing emergence of automatic cars compared to manual ones, driving with both feet can be more of an answer than a problem.

There are quite a few reasons that suggest that driving with both feet is a terrible idea. To mention a few, cars are supposedly designed for single-foot driving, implying that using both feet simultaneously would wear them down sooner. On the contrary, the bright side of two feet driving includes better control over the vehicle, and race cars, for example, are better when driven this way.

No matter which option sounds better, it is always better to go with the one you are more comfortable with because the driving decisions are always up to the driver.

Hence, hurry and answer the survey on driving with two feet on the Real Research app from October 17, 2022. After that, you will receive 25 TNCs as a reward.
