American film and television production company Lucasfilm has released the trailer for the fifth installment of the Indiana Jones movie franchise—Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. This movie will be released 15 years after its predecessor, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and 42 years after the first movie, Raiders of the Lost Ark.

One of the most notable facts about the upcoming Indiana Jones movie is that it will be the first Indiana Jones film not directed by Steven Spielberg but instead by James Mangold (Director of Logan, Ford v Ferrari.) This will be the first time in four decades that Steven Spielberg will not direct an Indiana Jones film.

Additionally, the upcoming Indiana Jones movie will be Harrison Ford’s final portrayal as the titular character. Ford, now 80 years old, was only 38 when he first portrayed the adventurous archeologist. Now, 42 years later, Ford has suffered several injuries while filming his movies in both the Star Wars franchise and the Indiana Jones franchise. Earlier this year at the D23 Expo, Ford announced that the fifth Indiana Jones film will be the final time he would portray the character.

Legendary Composer John Williams has also stated that the upcoming Indiana Jones movie will be his final project before officially retiring. John Williams is well recognized for composing some of the most well-known and identifiable film scores, including those for Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park, Jaws, Star Wars, and three Harry Potter films.

On the other hand, the production of the fifth Indiana Jones film has also sparked some controversy. Notably, there have been rumors of six failed test screenings for the ending of the upcoming film—meaning that test audiences disliked the ending of the movie and that Lucasfilm had to redo it six times. However, James Mangold publicly denied such rumors.

Similarly, the trailer for the upcoming film features a shot of a noticeably digitally de-aged Harrison Ford, possibly hinting at a time travel storyline. Digital de-aging is a film technology that hasn’t completely won over audiences, with some CGI appearing startling and inhuman. However, Harrison Ford has commented on it saying that it was the first time he’d seen digital de-aging work so well.
