The 96th Academy Awards, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), were held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles. These awards are commonly referred to as Oscars and have been monumental in the history of filmmaking.

Oppenheimer, which made $82,455,420 in opening sales, made history at this year’s Academy Awards. The historical drama picked up seven awards at this year’s Academy Awards, including best picture, director, actor, and supporting actor, making director Christopher Nolan and actor Cillian Murphy first-time Academy Award winners. 

Our survey about the Academy Awards indicates that 77.78% of the respondents wanted Christopher Nolan to pick up the Best Director award. Additionally, 60% wanted Cillian Murphy to win the Best Actor award, and indeed, he was presented with the award for his role in Oppenheimer. 

Poor Things, which won Best Motion Picture at the Golden Globe Awards, fell short of the Academy Awards Best Picture Motion Award. However, it picked up four Academy Awards from its 11 nominations, including Best Actress (Emma Stone), Best Costume Design, and Best Production Design.
