Back in November, our team published a report where we found out that a majority of people are willing to take the Covid-19 vaccine. People were very optimistic and hopeful that the vaccine will work for the benefit of our society. A large segment of the respondents (45%) showed concern over the origin of the vaccines, and a majority value the cost that it would incur.

More than 2 months later, Covid-19 vaccines are already developed and many started the distribution of the vaccines to combat the virus. As of the time of writing, the World Health Organization confirms that there are vaccines that certain national regulatory authorities have authorized to use.

Now, the local government has announced that it will allow all citizens to receive the COVID-19 vaccine for free. As vaccination approaches, our team conducted a survey to find out about the opinions of Real Research users when we talk about vaccination.

Highlights

  • A large segment of the population feels that they are somewhat willing to get the free vaccine.
  • The majority of the participants believe that workers at high-risk medical institutions should be the priority candidates for vaccination.
  • With regards to the vaccine brand, users mostly trust Pfizer, Moderna, and AstraZeneca.
  • Participants of the survey are South Koreans ages 21 – 65.

Public Willingness To Take The Covid-19 Vaccine

The leading response to the question — are you willing to get free vaccination? — is Somewhat Yes. 34% of the participants chose this answer. This shows that despite being willing to take the vaccine, most people are still uncertain whether they should take it or not. This is still a good sign and shows that people have confidence in the vaccine.

There is also a significant portion of the respondents who answered Definitely Yes. The survey shows that 27% of the participants will surely take the free vaccine that will be offered to them. In addition to the top answer, this also shows that people want to take the vaccine.

Aside from that, 21% have chosen a Neutral stance, 10% took the Somewhat No answer, and less than 3% chose Definitely No. These three answers make up the minority with somewhat negative sentiments.

From this data, we can conclude that the participants of the survey have high levels of trust in their government and healthcare institutions. Positive sentiments dominated this section of the survey.

Priority Candidates For Covid-19 Vaccination

Who do you think should be a priority candidate for vaccination?

The top answer to this question is frontliners — workers at high-risk medical institutions. This answer won by a landslide as 60% of the participants agreed that people who are constantly dealing with COVID-19 patients should be the first to get the vaccines.

The answer that ranked second is elderly people, gaining the vote of roughly 23% of the participants. This consists of senior citizens living in group facilities (15%) and simply elderly people at the age of 65 or higher (8%).

A minority of the participants were torn between public health center staff, chronically-ill adults, adults, police, firefighters, soldiers, and others.

With these results, we can conclude that participants show high concern with the people working on the front lines. After frontliners, users believe that the elderly should be the next in line within the priority list.

Public Trust on Vaccine Brands

If you are vaccinated, what type of vaccine do you trust?

Out of the five vaccine brands that our team included in the survey, three stood out — Pfizer, Moderna, and AstraZeneca. A large segment of participants also expressed their distrust of any of the vaccines mentioned and their uncertainty regarding the issue itself.

The top answer is Pfizer. 30% of the respondents expressed that they would trust Pfizer. Ranked second is Moderna with 17.25% of respondents choosing the brand as their pick. Third comes AstraZeneca with 16.59% of votes.

Two out of the five brands got a significantly lower amount of votes. These two are Janssen with only 2% of votes and Cobax Facility with 1.11%.

A segment that also stands out is the number of participants who expressed that they do not trust any of the vaccines. 10% answer that they don’t trust any of the brands provided. This shows that no matter what brand, they will not be willing to go for the vaccine.

Another significant segment shows the people who are uncertain despite the brand. This accounts for 16.8% of the participants.
