Survey: Public Perception On The Situation In Taiwan

In light of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the Western media are afraid about PRC’s threat of a forceful solution to the Taiwan issue. Tensions between mainland China and Taiwan have risen due to disagreements over the latter’s status. In addition, conflict over Taiwan has the potential to destabilize US-China relations.

Taiwan has been self-governing since 1949, whereas Beijing considers the island to be part of its territory. Beijing has promised to unify Taiwan with the rest of the mainland, using force, if necessary, thus, tensions are increasing. Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen blew up Beijing’s efforts to undermine democracy. Consequently, Beijing’s diplomatic and military pressure on Taiwan has been on the rise ever since.
