Drinking alcohol is a form of interaction within society. People drink together at various social conventions or even alone by themselves. Often harmless if consumed within limits, drinking can usually help one relax or loosen up. However, in some cases, overindulgence can lead to various drawbacks such as an upset stomach, dehydration, hangovers, and worse.

Thus, Real Research — the online survey application, launched a survey on hangover cures. The survey specifically seeks to find out various kinds of hangover cures from the public. Here are the results.

Most Respondents Reveal That They Drink Regularly

To start off, the survey asks if respondents drink regularly. More than half of the respondents (68.26%) said ‘yes’, while 31.74% said ‘no’.

Next, the survey asks if respondents drink until they get drunk. More than three-quarters of respondents said ‘yes’ (77%), whereas 23% said ‘no’.

Respondents Share Their Favorite Hangover Cures

Further on, the survey asks about respondents’ favorite hangover cures. A majority of 45.84% say to get hydrated, while 12.54% suggest starving, and 10.45% say to have a deep sleep. Moreover, 8.01% suggest exercising, while 6.61% say to do nothing. Lastly, 5.17% say ‘take a shower,’ 3.35% say ‘drink more alcohol’, 2.85% say ‘throw up’, and 2.38% say ‘binge eat’.

Following after, the survey asked ‘what do you most often eat for hangover cures?’. To this, all 42.27% eat chocolate, while 13.03% eat pizza, and 12.58% have ice cream. Adding on, 8.48% eat fruits, 7.17% have soup/broth, 6.61% eat instant noodles, 4.56% eat fried eggs, and 4.03% eat hamburgers.

Next, the survey asked respondents ‘what do you most often drink for hangover cures?’. More than half of the respondents (57.21%) drink water, 8.27% drink pear juice, and 8.19% drink orange juice. In addition, 7.18% drink tea, 5.50% drink coffee, and 5.28% drink chocolate milk. Lastly, 4.11% drink sports drinks while 3.58% drink more alcohol.

Finally, the survey asks respondents what hangover cures around the world they would like to try. Almost half of the respondents (49.09%) chose Double espresso from Italy while 13.21% chose clear pollack soup from Korea.

Likewise, 9.31% chose coconut water from Bangladesh, 7.78% chose tomato soup from the USA, and 5.34% chose pickle juice from Poland. Then, 4.71% want ‘Umeboshi (salted sour plums) from Japan, 3.76% want an ostrich omelet from South Africa, and 3.42%  want a bloody mary from the UK’. Lastly, 2.70% wish for rollmops (pickled herrings) from Germany.
