Easter is a celebration that is a festival and holiday dedicated to the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The days before Easter is a time when many Christians practice Lent, a fast of sorts. After Lent, many people celebrate Easter in different ways including Easter Egg Hunts, Easter feasts, gift-giving, and much more.

Thus, Real Research conducted a survey on celebrating this Easter, to know more about how the public perceives the holiday. Specifically, the survey aims to find out how do people celebrate Easter? Also, what activities and proceedings do they follow throughout the day? Here are the results.

48.43% Attend Church Services

The survey starts by asking whether respondents celebrate Easter. In reply, 77.28% say they celebrate while 22.72% do not.

The survey then asks respondents how they celebrate Easter. To highlight, a majority of 48.43% attend church services, whereas 14.15% gather with friends and family. Furthermore, 7.28% decorate Easter eggs, while 5.19% play egg rolling, and 3.40% attend an Easter parade. Lastly, 3.19% eat chocolate bunnies while 2.90% send Easter cards, and 2.16% hunt for Easter eggs.

Next, the survey asks respondents whether they attended any Easter events during Covid-19. In response, 56.31% attended all Easter events, 17.92% attended some, and 25.77% did not attend any.

When asked whether respondents would attend Church this Easter, all 54.66% say they most likely will, while 14.55% said maybe, and 12.51% will not.

The Majority Think of ‘Resurrection’ Upon Hearing Easter

Further on, the survey asks respondents ‘what comes to mind when you hear the word Easter?’. All 47.05% replied ‘Reserruction’, while 11.24% think of ‘Church services’, and 8.63% think of Easter holidays. Moreover, 7.65% think of Lent, while 5.21% think of Easter eggs, and 3.45% think of Easter vigil.

The survey then questions respondents about the importance of Easter. Here, 49.03% suggest religious meaning and 11.60% think extended holidays are important. A further 7.42% say prayer and meditation while 6.76% say family coming together is most important about Easter. Finally, 5.14% say celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ, and 4.44% say that dyeing Easter eggs are important.

The survey then asks respondents about the most popular Easter gift. In answer, a majority of 44.20% chose Easter chocolates and sweets, while 18.07% chose Easter cakes, and 11.06% chose boiled/painted eggs.

Additionally, 8.96% say Easter cards are popular Easter gifts, while 8.91% suggest flowers/plants. However, 5.66% suggest Easter stuffed animals (usually, bunnies) are popular Easter gifts.

To conclude, the survey asks respondents how they feel during Easter. All 45.32% feel grateful, 11.93% feel scared, and 6.40% feel eternal. Moreover, 5.71% say that they feel faithful, while 5.48% feel religious, and 5.10% feel joyful. Lastly, 4.60% feel happy and 4.72% are excited.
