Watching shows and series has been providing entertainment in people’s lives. It has proven to have a profound and wide-ranging impact on our society and culture. Consequently, it affected how people think and react, from mildest to most serious issues.
With Netflix on everyone’s mobile phones, watching is so convenient. Furthermore, the wide range Netflix offers resulted in a contest between reality shows and TV series. For this reason, Real Research, an online survey app, launched a survey to see the public’s preference between Reality Shows and TV Series.

Reality Shows vs TV series
The survey on Reality Shows vs TV Series starts by asking whether respondents know the difference between a Reality Show and TV Series. In reply, 84.9% can differentiate the two, and only 15.10% can not.
Next, the survey asks respondents which between the two they prefer to watch. Here, 47.68% choose Reality Shows while 27.43% go for TV series. Whereas 16.10% watch both while 8.79% watch neither of the two.
How Much Do They Watch?
As for Reality Shows, the survey asks respondents how often they watch them. Here, the responses are the following: every day (45.93%), every other day (12.94%), 3-4 times a week (14.28%), and every week (14.86%). And the rest (10.70%) do not watch reality shows.
Furthermore, the survey asks them what genres they like for reality shows. Here, they responded to varieties such as Dating/Romance at 44.68%, Cooking and Baking at 13.58%, Talent Shows at 11.25%, Survivor Game at 5.50%, and Car Racing at 4.88%.
Besides Reality Shows, the survey on Reality Shows vs TV Series also asks how often they watch TV Series. Similarly, 46.30% watch it daily, 13.06% every other day, 14.91% watch it 3-4 times per week, and 15.10% every week.
Likewise, the survey asks for the genres they watch, but for TV Series this time. In response, 39.47% prefer thrillers, 16.78% watch action, and 10.58% go for horror. The rest watch other genres such as romance-comedy (5.67%), crime and investigation (4.84%), drama (4.15%), and legal drama (4.10%).
Netflix and Chill
The survey also reveals that 42.28% of respondents’ lives are boring when asked ‘why do you prefer reality shows over TV series’. A further 19.56% say they’re entertaining, and 10.69% like their content. Moreover, 8.19% have family and friends that watch with them, while 4.38% say there is nothing good on TV.
Similarly, the survey on Reality Shows vs TV Series asks ‘why do you prefer TV series over reality shows’. Most respondents (41.09%) say it helps them to relax, and 23.92% consider it entertaining. While 9.10% watch it with family and friends, others (8.58%) like the scenarios, and 4.78% have favorite actors.
Regardless of the rivalry between Reality Shows vs TV Series, the majority (56.60%) watch both on Netflix. Followed by ABC (8.58%), Disney+ (6.28%), OSN (5.63%), MTV (4.01%), and Bravo (3.43%).
As a final point, Netflix won the heart of the majority. 57.17% choose it as the best platform to provide reality shows and TV series. The rest choose others, such as ABC at 8.72%, Disney+ at 6.64%, and OSN at 5.57%.
