Like Christmas and its many global traditions, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s day come with a set of their own festive traditions. Above all, the most common New Year’s plans include New Year’s Eve parties and midnight events to welcome the New Year. In contrast, some prefer a quiet and intimate night with loved ones.

Besides these, the most common tradition that shines through is making New Year’s resolutions. As a testament to yearly New Year’s plans, a time-honored tradition is for one to reflect on the year past and look forward to accomplishing certain goals for the New Year. Thus, Real Research launched a survey about New Year’s plans. Here are the results.

56.54% Are Satisfied With Life and Achievements in 2021

In contrast, 24.68% are unsatisfied. To see how most plan to improve their experience with the upcoming new year, the survey asks how respondents have in store for New Year’s plans this 2022. On this, the majority (37.95%) say they wish to spend the first day of the year with their family.

Likewise, others shared their New Year’s plans for 2022. In detail, 14.56% say they will meet their friends, 10.14% say they will stay home alone to rest, and 10.02% say they have to work on this day. Next, the survey asks what food one tends to have to celebrate the New Year.

On this, 17.55% chose various alcoholic beverages and 11.73% chose cake. In addition, 7. 34% chose cheese, 6.51% chose meat, 5.71% chose dumplings, and 5.04% chose fruits. To add on, 3.99% chose pie, 3.47% chose donuts and cookies, 2.77% chose rice cake, and 2.08% chose fish. More so, 1.82% chose homemade drinks, 1.23% chose noodles, 1.07% chose salad, 0.71% chose bread, and 0.18% chose porridge.

50.77% Already Had New Year’s Plans for 2022

To highlight, the survey asks respondents what they wish to achieve in 2022. A whopping 30.48% say they wish to find a new job. Following after, 8.53% say they want to lose weight and 6.79% say they wish to open their own business. Likewise, 5.34% say they want to learn a new language and 5.07% say they want to get married.

Meanwhile, 4.92% say they wish to invest in crypto and 3.11% say they want to start dating. More so, 2.52% say they wish to exercise more, 2.50% say they want to quit smoking, and 1.79% say they want to travel to foreign countries. Lastly, 1.46% wish to buy a new car, 1.43% wish to buy an apartment, 0.52% wish to have a baby, and 0.39% want to get a pet.

Following up, the survey asks respondents ‘what do you hope for most in 2022?’ In response, 31.01% say they hope it brings the end of the coronavirus pandemic. Next, 13.09% are hoping for an economic revival for their country and 7.19% are hoping for raise in salary to meet the rising living standards. Accordingly, 6.55% hope to stay happy, and 5.96% hope for good health for their family.

68.84% Believe 2022 Will Be Better Than 2021

In contrast, 11.68% say 2022 will be worse than 2021 and the rest think it will be the same. Accordingly, the survey asks why do respondents think 2022 will be better. In response, 31.30% say 2022 will be better because they will find a new job.

Meanwhile, 11.85% say the pandemic will end and 9.46% say there will be changes in their personal lives. Likewise, 6.60% say no more housing issues, 6.33% say personal growth, 6.23% say career growth, and 0.82% say higher education.

As for those who say 2022 will be worse than 2021, these are their reasons. 24.87% say more restrictions and mandatory vaccinations will take place. In addition, 16.75% say new Covid variations may appear and 4.93% say they will either lose their job or won’t find a better one.

Accordingly, 4.90% say health issues may occur while 3.07% say they are unlikely to find their soulmate, and 1.33% say they cannot finish their education as planned. To conclude, the survey asks respondents what mood they are in when it comes to embracing the New Year 2022.

Here, 29.01% say ‘Excited’, 21.50% say ‘Positive’, 5.87% say ‘Pleased’, 5.43% say ‘Neutral’, 4.32% say ‘Hopeful’, 4.26% say ‘Relaxed’, and 4.08% say ‘Determined’. Then, 0.69% are ‘Calm’, 0.32% are both ‘Sad’ and ‘Negative’, and 0.24% are ‘Gloomy’. Lastly, 0.21% are ‘Unhappy’, 0.2% are ‘Nervous’, 0.16% are ‘Exhausted’, 0.1% are ‘Annoyed’, and 0.07% are ‘Cynical’.
