The King will be unavailable for public events but will continue with his constitutional role as head of state. Private meetings and paperwork will continue as usual, as will weekly meetings between the King and Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

Under the constitution, if the head of state is unable to carry out his official duties, counselors of state would be appointed to stand in for the monarch. Queen Camilla, Prince William, the Princess Royal, and Prince Edward are all part of the counselors of state. However, Prince Harry and the Duke of York are no longer included as they are non-working royals.
