Kanye West recently took to his Instagram account to call out Adidas for releasing “fake” Yeezy shoes and suing him for 250 million dollars. For many years, West has been labeled “mentally unstable” by the media. Adidas reportedly ignored these statements and comments as they were involved in a very lucrative deal with the multi-Grammy winner. Kanye’s public mental breakdowns have occurred on several occasions, even on live television.

The contract between West and Adidas became the second most lucrative partnership behind the Nike and Michael Jordan one. Many have argued that the Yeezy and Adidas partnership would have always struggled to reach the Jordan and Nike levels due to West’s social behavior. These predictions were right, as the partnership ended in a very sour manner.

Following a social media outburst where the artist made anti-Semitic comments, 2022 saw the Yeezy and Adidas partnership finally come to an end. However, Adidas seems to be still selling Yeezys, and West recently bashed them in an Instagram video.

Is Adidas benefiting from a man they reportedly plan to sue? It is reported that Adidas makes almost $2 billion a year from Yeezy, which is 10% of the total brand revenue.

It is reported that when Adidas ended its partnership with Kanye, it left the company with more than $1 billion worth of Yeezy shoes in unsold inventory. This makes Kanye’s “fake” shoe allegations against Adidas very controversial. Adidas owns all aspects of Yeezy except the brand name, which is probably something that does not sit well with West.

If the legal battle were to occur, chances are high that Adidas would win as they have more finances and a relatively stronger legal team. Although it would have been very difficult to dethrone the Michael Jordan and Nike partnership, there was huge potential for their partnership to reach great heights.
