Gone are the days when you could go to amusement parks and have a full day of fun, enjoyment, and laughter without going broke!

Disney theme parks gradually raised their ticket prices, and people are starting to feel like it’s not worth it anymore. Since 2019, a one-day ticket to Disney World during the peak holding season has risen by 47%. 

However, in the past few years, Disney has struggled financially, as the company’s stock has decreased 11% in the past five years.

Disney didn’t just increase their ticket prices; they also removed some features and benefits.

In the last two years, free shuttles from the airport to the parks in Florida (which is the state that holds Disney’s largest and most profitable theme parks) have been discontinued. 

What’s more, a once-free FastPass system, a virtual queue that allows you to skip the line by picking a return time for a ride, was replaced by Genie+, starting at $25 per day.

In November, the company announced it would slash its expenses by $2 billion, in addition to a previous $5.5 billion reduction it had announced. Disney’s endeavors in the box office weren’t great; with a heavy investment in its streaming platform, Disney+, the company is struggling to make ends meet. 

Disney’s plans to cut down on expenses included thousands of job cuts.
