An anti-social personality disorder is a deranged mental condition, in which patients experience a lack of empathy and emotions towards others. In addition, sociopathic and psychopathic tendencies are more harmful than any other mental condition. People with these mental disorders can harm others and still feel no guilt. Moreover, they are around us, living their lives normally every day.

Accordingly, Real Research — the online survey app, conducted a survey on psychopath and sociopath. Likewise, it focused on antisocial personality and its patterns. Also, what could be the best way to deal with psychopaths and sociopaths? In addition, what is the best way to prevent the antisocial personality disorder? Here are the results.

Lack of Empathy Is Most Challenging Among Sociopaths and Psychopaths

To begin, the survey asked the respondents if they ever met a person with an anti-social personality disorder. A whopping, 66.13% said ‘yes’, and 16.41% said ‘no’. The next question is about the awareness of psychopath and sociopath.

To which, 39.61% said they only know about psychopath and 10.10% said they know only about sociopath. On the other hand, 38.30% said they know about both whereas, 11.98% said they know neither.

Furthermore, the next question asks about the common characteristics of psychopath and sociopath. Respondents say lack of empathy is most common (51.36%). Adding on, self-centered personality (17.51%), being impulsive and aggressive (11.73%), being extremely sensitive to their interests (4.69%), and feeling revenge on little things (3.76%).

Furthermore, the respondents shared what are the main causes of being psychopath and sociopath. In response, 44.20% say lack of love and affection, 16.97% say indifference in society, and 10.99% say maltreatment in childhood. In addition, 7.35% say underprivileged background and 3.58% say being bullied in early life could be the reason.

Another question asked, what do respondents think of the best way to deal with psychopath and sociopath? A majority of 40.98% say let people around you know, 15.72% say to be more cautious when facing them, and 14.11% suggest keeping a distance. Also, 4.74% say to defend yourself and 4.09% say to refrain from expressing emotions.

Genetic, Physiological, and Environmental Factors Are the Cause

Following this, another question asks what respondents think is the key factor that influences the tendency in psychopath and sociopath? Answers are: Genetic factors (47.53%), Environmental factors (21.10%), and Physiological factors (16.51%). Moreover, 14.87% believe it is a combination of all of these.

To conclude, the last question asks what is the best way to prevent anti-social personality disorder. Here, 53.67% say consistent parenting attitudes are essential and 21.23% say society should pay attention to domestic violence.

Meanwhile, 10.19% say to ensure children receive a proper education at an early age and 5.48% say get treated right if symptoms of ADHD appear in childhood. Lastly, 5.75% say to build an environment to develop a social conscience and considerations.
