There is a good chance that, somehow, decades of Disney films have influenced our culture. People enjoy Disney movies for their main story and beloved and acclaimed characters, ranging from princesses, princes, side heroes, and villains.

For sure, everyone has their reasons as to why they love certain characters from Disney classic movies, even decades later. For this, Real Research, an online survey app, launched a survey to gather opinions on who the public prefers for Disney characters. Here are the results.

Highlights:

  • 9.67% chose Elsa as a favorite from a list of 15 Disney princesses
  • 12.91% think Jafar is the most attractive Disney villain
  • 7.99% say Aladdin is their favorite Disney animated film

Favorite Disney Characters: Princess, Prince, and Couple

For many years, Disney’s iconic animated characters have captured the attention of both children and adults. The Disney Princesses, for example, are a group of film heroines representing everything whimsical, magical, and beautiful in the Disney world.

According to survey results on public preference for Disney characters, there is only a marginal difference between respondents’ favorite Disney princesses. From a list of 15 princesses, first place goes to Elsa, with 9.67% of the votes. Next are Jasmine (9.60%), Anna (8.23%), Cinderella (8.11%), Mulan (7.83%), and Moana (7.53%).

The Disney princesses have earned a lot of love and adoration over the years. Unfortunately, their love interests are not always appreciated as much as the princes are. Concerning this, the survey asked which Disney prince is their favorite. In response, a majority chose Aladdin (18.02%), followed by Kristoff (9.26%), John Smith (9.25%), Li Shang (9.19%), Adam (8.91%), and the Prince Charming of Cinderella by 8.11%.

People have a soft spot in their hearts for Disney couples, no matter how flawed or unreasonable their love story is. One thing for sure is that many Disney films are famous for their romantic stories. Regarding Disney couples, 14.18% of respondents voted for Jasmine and Aladdin as their best couple. The rest voted for Anna and Kristoff (10.64%), Cinderella and Prince Charming (9.76%), Mulan and Li Shang (9.67%), Belle and Adam (9.02%), and Snow White and Florian (8.66%).

The Most Attractive Disney Villains

While the main characters are memorable, the best Disney villains have become so iconic that they have made their mark in the hearts of many as well. The survey then asked respondents to name who they thought was the most attractive Disney villain. On this, most chose Jafar (12.91%), followed by Captain Hook (9.85%) and Scar (9.30%). The rest chose Shan Yu (9.11%), Te Ka (8.39%), and lastly, Hades (7.74%).

On the other hand, others adored some of the Disney supporting cast. In some movies, these supporting characters make the story better and are sometimes more loveable than the main character. For this, the survey asked which was their favorite non-Princess and non-Prince Disney character. In reply, on top is Genie, with 11.45% of the vote. Olaf (10.61%), followed by Simba (10.53%), Mickey Mouse (9%), Bambi (8.59%), and Tigger (8.15%).

Respondents’ Favorite Disney Animated Films

In the same way that Disney’s animated films often feature fantastic Disney princes and princesses and menacing Disney villains, so do Disney’s live-action films. Accordingly, the survey asked respondents who they thought best played an animated character in Disney’s live-action remakes. 14.46% voted for Will Smith in his role as Aladdin. Others voted for Liu Yifei (10%) as Mulan, Naomi Scott (9.56%) as Jasmine, and Angelina Jolie (9.06%) as Maleficent.

Lastly, the survey asked for respondents’ favorite Disney animated films. Aladdin is in first place with 7.99% of the votes. The Lion King and The Jungle Book tied for second place, with 6.72% of the votes. Furthermore, there is Mulan (6.50%), Frozen (6.37%), and Tarzan (5.75%).
