Thirteen years after Director James Cameron released the highest-grossing file of all time, “Avatar,” finally the long-awaited sequel— Avatar: The Way of Water,  is set premiere on December 15 and December 16, according to sources.

The original Avatar holds many box-office records, including the title for the highest-grossing film.

You may ask, but why was the original titled “the best movie of all time,” the answer is simple— revolutionary 3D graphics and innovative visual effect techniques. Cinematographer Vince Pace and Cameron developed a modified 3D camera to capture their footage.

This included a larger motion-capture stage and an enhanced method of facial expressed capture technology. Additionally, the 3D visuals brought viewers into the world of Pandora.

The latest Avatar movie is set to hit the screens on December 15. Are viewers excited to watch it? Will the second movie exceed or reach expectations as the first did? Real Research launched a survey seeking public opinion on Avatar: The Way of Water.

Successor of the Original Avatar 2009

The original Avatar was way ahead in the film and VFX industry at that era. Its blend of special effects, aesthetics, and 3D resulted in a groundbreaking profit of $2.9B— making it the highest-grossing film of all time.

Likewise, we asked our respondents whether they watched it. 74.19% said yes, 19.92% said no, but they plan to, and 5.89% said no.

When the following poll asked what their opinions were, results show that 45.4% said it exceeded their expectations, and 37.41% said it was satisfactory. On the other hand, 14.64$ said that it was unsatisfactory, 2.31% said it did not meet their expectations, and 0.24% said it was disappointing.

Thoughts on Avatar: The Way of Water

19.2% noted that they were interested, 15.64% said they were excited to watch at the cinema, 13.59% were happy, and 11.59% were eager.

In contrast, 9.76% showed no interest, 9.77% were doubtful, and 9.22% were skeptical.

Moreover, when respondents were asked whether they would watch the latest Avatar, 41.02% had already booked the tickets, 39.32% planning on seeing the moving, 14.2% remained undecided, and 5.46% said no.

Would the Latest Avatar Be Able To Keep Up With Its Predecessor?

Many say, “Avatar: The Way of Water won’t be as successful as its 2009 predecessor.”

According to the above statement, 59.63% agreed, 31.83% remained neutral, and 8.55% disagreed.

Similarly, the following poll asked if the 13-year gap between the release of the two movies would affect the box office.

Real Research results show 47.17% said it would be more successful than the first Avatar, 32.41% yes, but it would be less successful than the first Avatar, 11.33% no, it will be similar to the original, and 9.09% remained uncertain.

Obstacles in Avatar: The Way of Water

The 13-year gap might make a difference in the movie Industry. Nearly a decade gap may have changed the way how the latest Avatar looks in terms of realism and VFX. Director James Cameron also reportedly expressed his concerns about the 13-year gap citing it as one of the biggest challenges Avatar: The Way of the Water might face.

Our poll asked what might be the biggest challenge Avatar might face: The Way of Water. Results show 14.05% said that audience might have to get used to the 3D and VFX, 13.83% commented on the 13-year gap, and 13.37% noted the changes in the movie industry since the release of the first Avatar.

Lastly, the poll asked for an estimate of the latest box office figures. 33.92% said less than $50,000000, 20.57% said within the $50M – $100M, and 20.71% said  $100M and $500M.
