Having established trade routes gives us the opportunity to import and export goods from all over the world. Off-season products are available any time of the year in most parts of the world. Furthermore, they are easily available in markets around the world. Some individuals shop at a hypermarket and some prefer shopping at wet markets or farmers’ markets. This preference could come based on the society they live in.

Accordingly, the Real Research online survey app conducted a survey on public shopping preference for supermarket vs wet market. Respondents share the advantage of wet market shopping and also what they think is more fun among wet markets vs. supermarkets. Here are the results.

Respondents Choose Between Wet Market and Supermarket

To start off, the survey asks how respondents shop for groceries. In response, 68.55% say they visit a market while 22.63% say they shop online. Also, 8.81% say that someone else does their grocery shopping for them.

Likewise, the next question asks respondents which market they visit often — wet markets or. supermarkets? In reply, 60.94% say wet market/farmers market. On the other hand, 38.15% say supermarket/hypermarket.

Accordingly, the next question about the wet markets vs. supermarkets topic asks, why do the respondents choose to shop at a wet market/farmers’ market? In answer, 54.44% say they like to support local farmers and 20.43% say they prefer buying fresh produce as it tastes better.

Furthermore, 8.66% say they need their products to be organic. In addition, 6.27% say they get a better deal from local farmers than at supermarkets. Lastly, 3.64% say there is more competition and they can bargain.

50.28% Say They Prefer Hypermarkets for More Product Variety

Next in the wet markets vs. supermarkets survey, respondents reveal why they choose to shop at a supermarket. In order, 50.28% say there is so much more variety while 17.47% say they appreciate fixed prices.

Additionally, 6.60% say it is more comfortable to shop at a supermarket and 5.82% say they can access products that are not native to the land. Also, 3.27% say they can take their own time and make decisions.

Moving ahead, respondents answer what would make people consider going to the wet market. On this, 44.55% say the products should be approved by a government or global officials. Likewise, 14.54% say the venue should be clean, quiet, and not crowded. Then, 13.90% say products must be organic and cheap. Lastly, 12.18% say it should be easily accessible and 7.91% say better deals and more variety should be needed.

Following after, the survey asks what respondents look for when choosing items at any market. Here, 50.12% say they need to know how and where it was grown. Adding on, 15.99% say they need their products to be organic and healthy. Meanwhile, 10.94% say they choose on the basis of price while 10.76% say they need to know what pesticides were used. Lastly, 7.21% say they make a choice on the basis of the brand.

63.07% Say Wet Markets Are Fun to Shop At

Next, in the debate of wet markets vs. supermarkets, the survey asks what factor goes into choosing a market to shop from. In answer, 48.62% said location and 13.31% said venue. Meanwhile, 12.58% said travel time and convenience and 7.07% said the variety available at the market. Lastly, 4.61% said the size of the market and 2.02% said the presence of entertainment options and activities at the market.

To conclude, the survey asked which market is the most fun to shop at. Here. 63.07% chose wet market/farmers market. In contrast, 36.93% chose supermarket/hypermarket.
