The US Supreme Court in Texas has passed the ‘Heartbeat Bill’ or ‘Fetal Heartbeat Bill’. In particular, the bill makes abortions illegal as soon as the embryonic or fetal heartbeat can be detected. Meanwhile, Texas is not the first city in the USA to propose the heartbeat bill.
To begin with, in 2013, North Dakota became the first state to pass a heartbeat law. However, in 2015, the law was ruled unconstitutional under the precedent set by the 1973 U.S. Supreme Court decision Roe v. Wade. Similarly, Heartbeat Bills that seek to outlaw abortion the moment a doctor detects a heartbeat, have been proposed in a handful of states in the USA.
In contrast to the Supreme Court’s decision, democrats call the new Texas law an unconstitutional assault on women’s health. More so, reproductive rights groups have pledged to fight the law in any case. Hence, Real Research seeks to find out the public opinion on the Fetal Heartbeat Bill passed in Texas.
