Ye’s—formerly known as Kanye West—Twitter account has been suspended yet again, barely two months after he had returned to the platform. The US rapper has been surrounded by controversy after posting anti-semitic remarks online dating back to early October.
On December 2, Ye tweeted a photo of a Swastika within a Star of David following an interview with controversial radio host Alex Jones. In response to the tweet, Elon Musk stated that Ye’s account would be suspended for inciting violence.
I tried my best. Despite that, he again violated our rule against incitement to violence. Account will be suspended.

No time frame was given for Ye’s suspension from Twitter. The company’s policy states that “enforcement action can range from 12 hours to 7 days, depending on the nature of the violation.”
Ye began using his account again on November 21, to which the platform’s new owner Elon Musk welcomed him back. Twitter moderators had previously suspended Ye’s account on October 9 for anti-semitic tweets but had reportedly reinstated it before Elon Musk’s acquisition on October 27.
Ye’s account was restored by Twitter before the acquisition. They did not consult with or inform me.

One of Ye’s first posts after taking a break from the platform was “shalom.” The word “Shalom” means peace in Hebrew and is used as a greeting or as a parting salutation. It was posted along with a smiley face.
On October 7, Ye tweeted about carrying out ‘death con 3’ on Jews, apparently referring to the US military readiness scale known as DEFCON. On October 9, Twitter deleted Ye’s tweet and promptly suspended his account for violating the platform’s policies.
Ye’s Twitter feed is among the top 100 most popular in the world, with 31.4 million followers.
Before his suspension, Ye had more than 30 million followers on Twitter. It was also revealed earlier this month that Ye had settled an anti-semitic discrimination suit with a former employee.
In recent months, Musk has expressed his desire to have fewer restrictions on the content that can be posted on Twitter. On November 24, he announced that some suspended accounts would be granted “general amnesty.”
With Ye’s repeated practice of posting anti-semitic statements, Real Research, an online survey app, launched a survey seeking opinions on his ban from Twitter after two months of reinstatement.
