Posts containing animal cruelty have been rampant and have gained exposure on social media platforms. It is even more alarming that they are accompanied by laughing emojis and inappropriate comments. Accordingly, Real Research launched a survey to gather opinions about the circulating animal cruelty content across social platforms.

It is worrying that people who would not ordinarily see animal cruelty are now being exposed to it online. Through social media giants such as YouTube, Facebook, and TikTok, cruel content is shared, promoted, and monetized, resulting in astronomical numbers of likes, followers, and views.

Consequently, it encourages other people to do the same. It creates a society desensitized to some of the most horrific acts of animal cruelty.

It is then important to create and enforce policies that do not allow sharing of abusive content and to develop robust monitoring systems to identify and remove such content without reliance on viewer reporting.

Cruelty content takes many forms, from the subtle and probably unintentional to the very obvious and intentional. It hurts to think that YouTube, Facebook, and TikTok videos with animal cruelty are clearly and intentionally abusing animals. While most cruel acts come from physical abuse, some contain mental, such as when animals are put into stressful or frightening situations. It is even more revolting that some find sexual pleasure in it.

However, one has to note that animal cruelty can be difficult to recognize due to the broadness of cruelty and its often private nature. It is also important to acknowledge that the presence of one or two signs does not necessarily mean an animal is being abused.

Hence, hurry and answer the survey gathering public opinion on the animal cruelty seen on social media on the Real Research app from October 24, 2022. After that, you will receive 30 TNCs as a reward.
