For the longest time, questions about beyond the “space” of Earth have probed humankind. Where thoughts about outer space, extraterrestrial life, and Unidentified Flying Objects are concerned, many have contrasting opinions and beliefs. In a recent turn of events, the US Space Agency recently announced an investigation into hundreds of inexplicable reports of Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAPs). This investigation is also reported to uncover the science behind the possibility of UFOs and aliens.

To see what the public had to say, Real Research, an online survey app, launched a poll seeking public opinion on Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs). Here’s what survey respondents had to say.

Highlights:

  • 65.23% have seen an object they think is a UFO
  • 60.46% believe that intelligent life capable of producing UFOs exists outside of Earth
  • 59.15% feel UFOs and aliens would pose a threat to national security

Respondents’ First Thoughts on Research About Unidentified Flying Objects

The survey on UFOs begins by asking respondents’ awareness of the research NASA plans to conduct on Unidentified Flying Objects. A majority of 72.47% are aware, leaving only 27.53% unaware.

Next, the survey asks respondents if they have ever seen an object that they think is a UFO. 65.23% say yes, while 34.77% say no.

Respondents on Planets Beyond Earth, Life & More

Next, the survey asks if respondents think some planets exist other than Earth with conditions that allow life to exist. In response, 60.7% say yes, whereas 17.46% say no, leaving 21.48% unsure.

Accordingly, the survey also probes respondents if they think intelligent life capable of producing UFOs exists outside of Earth. 60.46% believe there are, while 17.4% do not.

Further on, with NASA’s ufo study in mind, the survey asks respondents ‘do aliens exist?’ Here, 38.57% say very likely, whereas 18.62% say likely, leaving 22.47% neutral. Moreover, 10.29% feel they are unlikely, and lastly, 10.05% think it is very unlikely that aliens and Unidentified Flying Objects exist.

As many opinions have been expressed regarding the purpose of the study of NASA on Unidentified Flying Objects, the survey conclusively asks what respondents think is the main reason for the study. A majority of 16.51% suspect it is for national security, whereas 14.36% believe it is for aviation safety, and 14.13% suppose it is for scientific advancement.

An additional 12.48% say it is simple curiosity, and a further 11.71% believe it is to establish the image of space power. Meanwhile, 10.39% feel it is the people’s right to know.
