The rapid rise in popularity of cryptocurrencies over the past few years has attracted the attention of a huge number of investors. Increasingly, we hear that investing in cryptocurrencies is compared to investing in gold as a ‘safe zone’. In fact, cryptocurrencies are contributing to the increase in the value of the portfolio due to profitability. So much so, that many are investing in crypto almost as much as they are in real estate.

However, despite some similarities, it is clear that gold differs from cryptocurrencies both fundamentally and practically. For example, unlike cryptocurrencies, gold is also a consumer good. This means that people do not just invest in it, but use it as well. On the other hand, the development of the regulatory framework may change the price offer of cryptocurrencies. Moreover, the supply and ownership of cryptocurrencies are more concentrated.
