With a fast-paced life and unlimited food options, people have evolved their ways of consuming food in our society. Many families opt for processed and frozen food for convenience and efficiency. Whereas the consumption of organic foods like dairy, seafood, meat, fruits, and vegetables have a longer cooking time and are much healthier. Despite the ease of cooking processed food, the chemicals and preservatives lead to health problems. Thus, a diet rich in organic ingredients, can reduce disease risks and help live a longer and healthier life.

Accordingly, Real Research — the online survey app launched a survey on public opinion on processed food vs organic foods. The survey seeks to know the reasons the public consumes processed food and organic food and to see which one they think tastes better. Here are the results.

Public Opinion on Processed Food vs Organic Food

The survey on ‘Processed Food vs Organic Food’, asks respondents’ awareness on processed foods containing preservatives to increase shelf life. In response, 84.64% of respondents say ‘Yes’ and 15.36% say ‘No’.

Next, the survey asks how likely is it that processed food ingredients can be harmful to health if consumed daily. In reply, 50.40% say ‘Highly likely’ while 19.75% say ‘Likely’. On the other hand, only 6/04% say ‘unlikely’ and 5.44% chose to reply ‘Highly unlikely’.

Additionally, processed and frozen food contain additives, chemicals, and preservatives. The survey then asks respondents how they feel about this. In reply, 57.83% feel that processed food is bad for the health if consumed ‘daily’.

Whereas 21.56% feel ‘processed food is okay if consumed moderately’. Contrastingly, 10.09% believe ‘processed food is more affordable than organic food’, and 9.04% say it is ‘more convenient’.

Over 52% Of Respondents Would Like To Consume Organic Food

Next, the survey asks respondents what type of food they would like to consume on a daily basis. In response, the majority (52.79%) say ‘Fresh organic food like fruits, vegetables, dairy’ while 13.64% said ‘processed frozen food, pasta, chips, etc’. Further, 10.16% consume ‘food that is affordable’, and 8.26% chose ‘Fast Food (burger, pizza, etc)’.

Further on, the survey asks ‘what food do children like to consume?’. To this, a majority of 55.35% say fast food, while 22.38% feel they like to eat more processed food. Moreover, 22.27% believe children like organic food like fruits and vegetables.

Accordingly, the survey asks respondents, why most people consume processed food. 51.74% replied that it is convenient, while 17.47% believe it is more affordable. Moreover, 15.07% suggested that it requires less cooking or preparation time. Lastly, 14.66% think it saves their time.

Then, the survey asks respondents about the processed food they consume the most. All 37.99% consume ‘Cheese’, while 16.37% eat ‘Bread’, and 10.08% like ‘Canned food like vegetables’. Moreover, 7.63% consume ‘Savoury snacks’ and 7.06% eat ‘meat products’.

The survey then asks respondents ‘when do you usually consume processed food?’ A majority of 42.31% replied breakfast, 14.22% prefer to have it for lunch, and 10.04% for brunch. Moreover, 12.1% prefer it as a snack, and 9.43% like to have it for dinner.

Furthermore, the survey asks about their preferred organic foods. In response, the majority 50.96% like fresh dairy products like milk and eggs, whereas 23.65% prefer organic fruits and vegetables. 13.13% consume seafood and 12.26% like to eat fresh organic meat from the butcher.

To conclude, the survey on processed food vs organic food asks respondents which food tastes better. All 42.51% chose processed food, while 25.36% chose fresh organic food. Meanwhile, 22.37% prefer the taste of both, and 9.76% like neither.
