The player was deported from Australia during the Australian Open. This was due to the Australian authorities canceling his visa. 21.29% Are Unaware of Novak Djokovic’s Departure From Australia
Specifically, 34.69% know of Djokovic’s departure from Australia but are not aware of the details. Meanwhile, 44.03% are completely aware. In detail, Djokovic’s departure from Australia only took place because he did not have his Covid vaccination.
To highlight, the Australian Open only allows participants with an approved vaccine or those exempt due to medical conditions. Is this a fair imposition by Australia? Well, 41.24% seem to think this is very reasonable while 18.87% say it is reasonable. In contrast, 13.80% say it is not and the rest remain ‘neutral’.
Djokovic’s departure from Australia came as a surprise to many as he had received permission from the Australian Immigration Department (AID) to be exempt from the vaccination. This was because the player had caught Covid in December 2021.
Yet, due to this mishap, Djokovic lost his visa. Do respondents still think Djokovic’s departure from Australia was fair? In response, 35.58% say it is extremely fair, 19.23% say fair, 37.14% are unsure, and only 8.05% say it is unfair.

Meanwhile, 44.10% say they will definitely watch the Australian Open without Djokovic’s presence as they watch the tournament for the sport, not the players. This leaves 43.85% who do not find interest in Tennis.
Next, the survey focuses on opinions regarding the deportation of Djokovic. What opinion are the respondents siding with? The majority (31.16%) say Djokovic has become the symbol and leader of the free world.
Likewise, other opinions about Djokovic’s departure from Australia went as such. ‘The world has suffered enough, get vaccinated’ (15.23%), Australia has made many sacrifices for the pandemic they want to keep that choice well protected (5.60), and Djokovic not wanting to get the vaccine is the problem, Australia is right to do what it did (3.39%).
41.97% Do Not Believe Any of This Drama Will Effect Ratings
Next, the survey asks respondents if they think Djokovic’s departure from Australia will affect ratings. In response, 37.45% say ratings will go up as new talents will take the spotlight. In opposition, 20.58% say ratings will fall as many were waiting to see Djokovic in action.
Lastly, the survey asks if respondents consider Djokovic’s visa cancellation as a political act. On this, 46.46% agree, 19.16% disagree, and 34.38% are ‘unsure’.
