The protection of a vaccine against a disease can decrease over time. This means it can take longer for the body to fight against infections. Reportedly vaccine immunity for the first people vaccinated against Covid-19 might be waning. At the same time, there has been a discovery of the deadly contagious delta variant.

In particular, immunocompromised individuals are receiving third-dose vaccines. Meanwhile, those with a strengthened immune system are being given a booster shot. In most countries, health care workers, nursing home residents, and other older citizens will receive the vaccines first. Thus, Real Research conducted a survey about the covid vaccine third dose and booster shot. Here are the results.

Highlights

  • 66.59% are willing to take a Covid-19 third dose or booster shots vaccine.
  • The majority took the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine dose.
  • People are testing positive to Covid-19 even after receiving vaccines
  • Vaccines offered before will not offer immunity, therefore, third dose and booster shots are necessary.

People Are Acceptive of the Third Dose and Booster Shot Vaccines

The results derived from the Real Research online survey app show that people are willing to take immunization against Corona. In detail, 66.59% of the respondents are in support of receiving a third dose or booster dose covid vaccine.

However, 33.41% are not willing to take the vaccines. According to the health authorities, a covid vaccine’s 3rd dose strengthens those with a suppressed immune system. Likewise, the booster dose covid vaccine increases immunity against the Covid-19 virus.

The Majority Received Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 Vaccine Dose

While governments are there to protect their people, it takes a coordinated global effort to stop the pandemic. Thus, more than 5 billion doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been distributed across the world. The Real Research survey sought to know which vaccine has been taken the most worldwide.

Results from the survey show that most people took the Pfizer covid vaccine. Specifically, the majority (20.31%) state that they took Pfizer.

Secondly, there is Moderna (12.58%), then Covaxin (BBV152) with 5.69%. Still in the top five list is Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen (4.03%) and lastly Sinopharm (4.17%). To add on 51.16% of the survey participants have received full vaccinations against Covid-19. More so, 48.84% have not yet been vaccinated up to the second dose.

Moving on, the survey asked for reasons why some have not received their covid vaccine yet. To begin with, 54.04% say ‘I took my first vaccine shot and I am waiting for my second shot’. Then, 11.16% note that ‘Covid-19 vaccines, in general, are not yet available to the majority in my country’. Also, 10.10% are saying ‘The vaccine I want is no longer available in my country’.

Additionally, 5.16% fear the side effects associated with the vaccines. More so, 3.28% say that they have a phobia of injections. Lastly, 16.26% are sticking to that they do not want to get vaccinated.

However, the progress for immunization against Covid-19 is under threat. New strains, led by the highly transmissible delta variant, have caused renewed outbreaks. Hence, the need for a covid vaccine third dose and booster shot.

Testing Positive to Covid-19 Even After Receiving Immunization

Reportedly, there is no vaccine that is 100% effective from the onset. This is no different with the covid vaccines. Results from the Real Research survey show that 31.51% of the survey participants have tested positive after receiving vaccines.

On the other hand, 39.31% say that they haven’t tested positive. There is a slight % difference between those who tested positive and those who did not. Thus, there is a need for more trials such as the covid vaccine 3rd dose.

Countries continue to push the vaccination programs to combat coronaviruses. Do people want a covid vaccine booster shot or a third dose? 45.41% say ‘Let people choose’. Meanwhile, 16.16% express that ‘It should be made mandatory’. Following after, 27.16% ‘I am not sure’, and 11.27% say they do not want a covid vaccine booster shot.

Vaccines Provided Before, Do Not Offer Immunity for Years

Real Research further went on to find out what people think about the third dose or booster shot vaccines. Firstly 36.05% say that they are necessary because vaccines offered before will not offer immunity for years.

Moving on, 15.41% state that people need to take vaccine shots until a cure is found. Also, 9.64% say booster shots make our immune system stronger. Governments are still in the process of reviewing which age group should receive a third dose or booster shots first.

The majority (42.87%) say that seniors aged 65 and above should receive the vaccines first. Children below the age of 10 (11.05%), and front-line workers (5.73%). Also, patients with cardiovascular disease (5.23%) and those who commute regularly on public transport (4.30%).

In conclusion, a Covid-19 third dose and booster shot vaccine are meant to boost protection against Corona. However, it is not clear if people can mix vaccines. For instance, those who are fully vaccinated with Pfizer cannot take a booster shot for Sinopharm. For now, it is suggested that people get a booster shot of the same vaccine as their initial dose.
