Starbucks recently announced its next chief executive officer (CEO). Later this year, Laxman Narasimhan will be the newly appointed CEO and a Starbucks Board of Directors member. Narasimhan was PepsiCo’s chief commercial offer (CCO) and Reckitt’s CEO, an Indian-American business executive.

Extensively, on October 1, Narasimhan will join Starbucks as an ‘upcoming’ CEO after relocating from his residence in London to Seattle. He will work closely with the interim CEO Howard Schultz before signing an official contract for the CEO role.

Moreover, during Narasimhan’s transition period, he will work closely with Schultz, study the company culture, management team, partners, and customers, and explore the brand in-depth.

Accordingly, Real Research, an online survey app, launched a survey on Laxman Narasimhan, Appointed as the New CEO of Starbucks. This survey seeks to gather public opinions about Laxman Narasimhan as the CEO of Starbucks. Following are the survey results:

  • 69% are aware that Narasimhan was the CCO of PepsiCo and CEO of Reckitt.
  • 69.93% say that Starbucks needs a change.
  • 34.63% of respondents say that Starbucks needs a change/improvement in its pricing.

Starbucks Undergoing Management Changes

The survey starts by asking if respondents were aware that Laxman Narasimhan was previously PepsiCO’s CCO and Reckitt’s CEO. 69% answered yes, while 31% answered the opposite. Given the current crisis Starbucks is experiencing, the survey also asked if Starbucks needed a change. 69.93% of respondents said yes, while 30.07% said no.

Furthermore, Starbucks announced significant changes in its business areas, including beverage manufacturing and the structure of its stores. What do people think Starbucks needs to change/improve on?

The survey shows us that 34.63% said Starbucks must change/improve its pricing. 9.09% stated introducing a variety of menus, 5.75% said beverage manufacturing method, 6.96% said the drink’s taste, and 5.78% answered that staff service needed improvements.

Would the Newly Appointed CEO Bring Starbucks Out of the Slump?

According to the survey, 55.32% said that Narasimhan would save Starbucks from the downfall and major challenges it is currently facing. 19.32% answered no, and 25.36% were unsure.

Moreover, in recent years, Starbucks employees formed unions and have begun pressuring the headquarters and its 211 stores in the United States. Do people think that the next CEO of Starbucks will be able to resolve this labor-management conflict? 57.58% are confident that Narasimhan will resolve its crisis. 18.42 say no, and 24% are uncertain.

Will the New Starbucks CEO Laxman Narasimhan Attract More Growth?

The survey asked the public if they would visit Starbucks more often or less with the news of the new CEO of Starbucks.

51.97% of respondents said they would visit more, 22.14% said they would visit less, and 25.88% said their visits would remain the same.

Lastly, the survey asked if the new CEO of Starbucks would bring positive results to Starbucks. 58.70% responded yes, 17.88% responded the opposite, and the remaining (23.43%) were uncertain.
