The history of great warriors and emperors from every culture is best preserved in museums. Meanwhile, the phenomenal works of all the enigmatic artists are on display in art galleries. Moreover, antiquities are left behind as evidence of the passing of time, and the only safe haven for these remnants is a museum.

Hence, Real Research launched a survey on the world’s most famous museums and art galleries. It asked the respondents, do they like to visit museums or art galleries? In addition, it asked the respondents, ‘why do you visit museums?’. Also, which is the best city for arts and culture? Here are the results.

  • 15.40% often visit museums or art galleries while traveling to other countries.
  • The British Museum in London UK is the second most interesting for respondents.

44.52% Visit Museums or Art Galleries When They Travel To Other Countries

To begin, the survey asked respondents if they are interested in art. In reply, 87.20% said ‘yes’, and 12.80% said ‘no’.

The next question regarding museums and art galleries asked respondents ‘do they visit museums or art galleries when they travel to other countries?’. On this, 44.52% said every time, 17.68% said occasionally, and 15.40% said often. In addition, 12.09% said never and 10.30% said rarely.

Following this, another question asked why do the respondents visit museums and art galleries on their trips. Here, 49.21% say to gain insight into the local culture and the country’s past. Likewise, 22.18% say to get inspiration, 6.92% say to expand horizons, and 4.34% say to find peace and tranquility. Furthermore, 3.27% say they go to meet like-minded people.

Moving forward, the survey inquired to choose their favorite from listed museums and art galleries. In response, 51.66% chose Le Louvre in Paris, France. On the other hand, 9.02% chose The British Museum in London, UK. Meanwhile, 7.11% chose The Musee d’Orsay in Paris, France. Lastly, 5.94% chose The National Gallery in London, UK while 2.78% chose The Tate Modern in London, UK.

49.77% Said Paris, France Is the Best City for Arts and Culture

Furthermore, the next question asked respondents about why would they like to visit the museum or art gallery respondents voted for in the previous question. Accordingly, 51.01% say it is one of the best museums in the world. Adding on, 16.39% say it has the greatest artwork of all time, 11.26% say to leave a selfie, and 7.11% say the architecture of the museum itself is a work of art. Lastly, 6.17% say to not miss the opportunity to see some great exhibitions.

To conclude, the survey asks which city is best for arts and culture. In answer, 49.77% chose Paris, France and 16.16% chose London, UK. In addition, 8.07% chose New York, USA and 4.35% chose Florence, Italy. Furthermore, 3.79% chose Moscow, Russia while 2.48% chose Amsterdam, Netherlands.
