The COVID-19 situation continues to persist as the coronavirus continues to mutate. The most prominent mutation in 2021 was the Omicron variant. Thus, to control the spread of a new variant, booster shots against the Omicron variant came out. For those who felt the Covid booster shot timing is right, they simply decided to go for it.

The popularity of the booster shot against Omicron is interesting for a previous survey reveals that over 40% were not at all concerned about the Omicron variant. Thus Real Research launched a survey on COVID-19 booster shots. Do booster shots increase antibodies? What does the public think? Let’s find out.

67.04% Have Heard of the COVID-19 Booster Shot 

The majority are aware of the COVID-19 booster shot for immunity against the Omicron variant. In contrast, 32.96% are unaware. Also, on the matter of those willing to the COVID-19 booster shot against Omicron, more than half (51.75%) say ‘yes’. In contrast, 23.63% say ‘no’ and the rest are unsure.

To follow up, the survey asks if respondents believe whether the COVID-19 booster shot is the best defense against Omicron. On this, 54.10% are in agreement, whereas, 16.58% disagree. Meanwhile, 29.32% stand ‘neutral’. 

10.98% Say Yes To Annual COVID-19 Booster Shots

Next, the survey asks what respondents think about the availability of the COVID-19 booster shot and who should be the first to take it. In response, 41.41% say ‘everyone’ while 20.32% say ‘only those at high risk for severe disease’. Likewise, 8.36% say ‘only Omicron positive patients’, and 7.39% say ‘only elders and children’.

Accordingly, the survey asks respondents when they think is the best time to take the COVID-19 booster shot? On this, 31.10% say anytime when it seems necessary and 13.98% say every three months. Additionally, 13.90% say every six months, 10.98% say annually, and 5.64% say every two years.

29.74% Believe Booster Shots Will Increase Antibodies 

Do booster shots raise antibody levels and strengthen the body’s defenses against infections in general? Some respondents seem to think so. Specifically, 51,87% seem to find the statement to be affirmative. In contrast, 10.80% say it is untrue and 15.42% seem to believe the statement is a little substantial.

To conclude, the survey mentions how at least 60% need to be vaccinated by 2022 to keep the pandemic under control. However, making it so is no easy feat. Thus, the survey asked if administering COVID-19 booster shots within the timeframe is possible. Here, 50.13% believe it can be done while 20.05% say it cannot, and 29.82% are unsure.
