On November 21, 2022, the opening of the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar will take place. While many sceptics thought the tournament will be cancelled, millions of people around the world are looking forward to this event to support their country’s national team or just to watch an exciting game. To specify, the tournament will be held for the first time in the Middle East. That is why the time of the tournament has changed from Summer to the end of Autumn and the beginning of Winter. Thus, players and spectators do not have to suffer from the scorching heat.

Furthermore, 32 teams will participate in the tournament. On April 1, at the draw, 29 teams recognized their group rivals. Additionally, two more entries will be played in the intercontinental playoffs along with one that will get the winner of the joints in the European zone. To add on, FIFA presented the mascot of the 2022 World Cup. To highlight, the mascot is a flying carpet named La’ib. In Arabic, the name translates to ‘super-skilled player’.

Which football star’s performance are they most excited to see at the FIFA World Cup 2022? Who will win FIFA World cup 2022? Also, what are the opinions on FIFA banning Russia from World Cup? Here are the results.

Almost Everyone Watches the FIFA World Cup Tournament

To start off, the Real Research online survey app asks if respondents watch the FIFA World Cup tournament. In response, 86.80% say ‘yes’ and only 13.20% say ‘no’. As for the reason why people watch FIFA World Cup, 47.46% say they watch it to support their country, and 33.35% watch the tournament simply because they are football fans.

Adding on, 6.25% are attracted to football stadiums, the sports culture, and the atmosphere while 5.79% wish to see football stars. Meanwhile, 5.61% like to analyze different teams’ games and their strategies.

Furthermore, more than three-quarters of the respondents (85.28%) are aware that FIFA World Cup 2022 will be held in Qatar. Accordingly, the survey asks if the respondents’ countries qualified for this tournament. On this, 65.32% say ‘yes’, 22.06% say ‘no’, and 12.62% are ‘unsure’.

Cristiano Ronaldo Is the Most Awaited Football Star in FIFA World Cup 2022

The survey then asks respondents which football star’s performance are they most excited to see in the tournament? Here, 51.03% say they wish to see Cristiano Ronaldo’s performance. The next most awaited star at the tournament is Lionel Messi (16.55%).

Coming in next are, Neymar (7.79%), Son Heung-min (6.92%), Kylian Mbappe (3.43%), Pedri (2.52%), and Harry Kane (2.20%).

It is worth noting, that countries like Italy, Norway, Sweden, Egypt, Colombia, and others did not make it through to the tournament. Accordingly, the FIFA World Cup 2022 survey asks respondents which football stars of misqualified countries’ national teams will they miss most at the tournament.

In response, an overwhelming 60.16% reveal they will miss Mohammed Salah. Furthermore, 8.20%, 6.31%, 5.48, and 4.96% will miss Erling Haaland, Zlatan Ibrahimovich, Luis Diaz, and Marco Verratti, respectively.

Brazil Has the Highest Chance To Win FIFA World Cup

Next, the survey inquires which country has the biggest chance to win FIFA World Cup 2022. Here, 45.56% believe that it is Brasil. The next country with the highest potential to win the FIFA World Cup 2022, according to respondents, is Argentina (16.30%). Following that, 9.49%, 5.56%, 5.13%, and 3.62% think it might be France, Portugal, Germany, and England respectively.

To the question of how respondents are planning to watch the tournament, 45.72% say they are planning to travel to Qatar and watch the football matches live. Meanwhile, 17.49% and 17.11% are planning to watch it on TV with family at home and at sports bars with friends.

In addition, there are those who plan to catch live streams on social media (8.70%) while others will watch it online whenever they have time (6.69%). Lastly, 2.91% will listen to match updates on the radio when they are commuting.

Football Has Nothing To Do With Politics

Due to the situation between Russia and Ukraine, the Russian national team was excluded from applying for the World Cup 2022. Accordingly, the survey asks for opinions on FIFA banning Russia from World Cup. On this, 55.33% and 16.52% believe it was a very fair and fair decision. In contrast, 11.41% think it was unfair as football has nothing to do with politics. Lastly, 16.74% are neutral.

To conclude, the survey asks how excited are respondents in general about the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2022 event. In answer, 50.01% say ‘extremely excited’, 15.60% say ‘somewhat excited’, and 8.14% say ‘not excited’. Finally, 26.25% of the respondents are neutral.
