One of the most popular medical procedures in today’s world is Cosmetic Surgery. In this modern world, many tend to look towards science to attain their more flawless physical self. Hence, the demand for cosmetic surgery has increased. In addition, cosmetic surgery is really helpful for those who have damaged their physical self. 

Real Research — the online survey app, launched a survey on cosmetic surgery. It asked its respondents, why does one get cosmetic surgery? Also, why are some afraid of cosmetic surgery? Likewise, what could be the side effects? Here are the results.

26.02% Would Like Cosmetic Surgery for Their Eyelids

To begin, the survey asked respondents if they have ever considered having cosmetic surgery. Correspondingly, 75.38% said ‘yes’ while 24.62% said ‘no’.Accordingly, respondents reveal which part they would like to get cosmetic surgery. In order, they chose: eyelids (26.02%), skin (20.19%), nose (6.62%), face shape (5.22%), botox (4.96%), lips (4.61%), chin (2.89%), breast enlargement (1.91%), and breast reduction (1.8%).

Nearly 40% Think People Are Afraid of Cosmetic Surgery Due to Its Side Effects

Following this, another question asked respondents why they think people have cosmetic surgery? In response, 26.66% said to overcome complexes and 18.00% said to look more attractive.

Additionally, 10.65% said to look younger, 5.13% said for self-satisfaction, and 4.70% said to gain confidence. Likewise, 2.99% say to get a better job, 2.18% say to look like a celebrity, and 1.74% chose ‘suggestions from friends’.

Furthermore, the survey asked respondents why they think some fear cosmetic surgery. On this, 36.75% said they are concerned about side effects and 16.38% said they are afraid of the pain. Meanwhile, 7.65% think it is a matter of cost, 5.05% chose swelling, and 4.83% chose lack of time. Lastly, 3.57% are afraid to be perceived negatively.

43.13% Respect Their Spouse’s Decision To Get Cosmetic Surgery

Next, the survey asked what respondents think about their partner or family member getting cosmetic surgery. In correspondence, 50.85% said they ‘agree’ while 24.66% said they ‘disagree’. Following after, respondents reveal why they agree with cosmetic surgery for their loved ones.

On this, 43.13% said they simply ‘respect their opinion’. However, 9.24% said, ‘I want them to be more beautiful’. Likewise, 7.65% said ‘I want them to feel satisfied with themselves’ and 6.70% said ‘Good for getting a job’. Lastly, 4.68% said there is no reason to disagree.

In contrast, the survey asked respondents why they disagree with their loved one’s decision to get cosmetic surgery. Here, 31.60% said they don’t like the appearance of the people who got cosmetic surgery.

Likewise, 19.82% said they don’t want them to suffer from side effects. In addition, 11.92% said personality is more important than appearance and 6.08% said cosmetic surgery is not necessary to get a better job.
