On October 13, 2020, Apple introduced its newest flagship iPhones, the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini. These were released alongside the fascinating iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max. Each model has its own unique traits and features. More so, all four models support 5G connectivity for faster downloads and uploads.

With smartphones going mainstream, Apple’s iPhone has transformed from a niche product for early adopters. It has become one of the most impactful consumer tech products over the years.

Therefore, Apple has been continuously upgrading its models aiming to improve iPhone durability and longevity. As a result, the public’s interest in iPhone adoption is increasing.

Notably, people purchase new phone models for diverse reasons when they are launched. Meanwhile, others may prefer to continue using their old models.

Along with the above, Real Research conducted a survey to know iPhone 12 consumer perception.

The Majority That Uses an iPhone Likes The Camera

Smartphones have enhanced the central hub of our lives: they unite us with friends and families, help us plan our lives and capture our memories, provide us with entertainment and news. Besides, another feature is its seamless combination with the Apple ecosystem. This allows users for better software optimization and ease of use. Also, users can enjoy a relatively hassle-free experience in assistance between the devices.

Do you currently use and own an iPhone? 32% of the participants use an iPhone. However, some (28%) own another brand of smartphone. Also, a small percentage (22%) owned and used an iPhone before. Meanwhile, a small group (18%) don’t have a phone. As a result, this shows that many people prefer the iPhone more than any other smartphone.

Furthermore, 28% like the iPhone camera’s superb quality the most. 20% of respondents said they like the Apple ecosystem the most because they own other Apple devices. Plus, 20% of participants said they like the iOS interface, and 17% like iOS phone system security and reliability. On the other hand, 19% like the stylish design and hardware body the most.

This shows that many people like the iPhone because of the high-quality camera and the Apple ecosystem that easily connect to other devices.

Reasons for Purchasing or Not Purchasing iPhone 12

Nowadays, buying a phone has become one of the most significant purchasing decisions people make. Others like the product because of the software, the ecosystem, or the camera. On the other hand, people prefer android or other alternative operating systems like Samsung, Huawei, Oppo, LG, Vivo, and many other brands.

Why they would purchase the newest iPhone?31% of people said 5G connectivity. 21% affirmed that the new design would make them buy the phone. Besides, 15% think that the improved camera is the main reason they would purchase the device.

Furthermore, 12% of the respondents think the faster processor (A14 Bionic Chip) is for them a reason to get the iPhone 12. Also, 4% prefer the phone because of the 120Hz display, and 3% would get the phone because of Apple security and privacy. Meanwhile, 2% said that the LiDAR scanner is the feature that would make them purchase the newest iPhone 12. 1% prefer the compact form factor (iPhone mini). However, 9% said they wouldn’t buy the latest phone.

As a result, the majority of people would buy the iPhone 12 series because of the 5G connectivity to have the fastest connection.

Reasons for Not Purchasing an iPhone

33% of participants think the iPhone 12 series is overpriced. Aside from these, 19% believe that the affordable models have a low storage capacity, and 14% don’t like the operating system. Also, 12% said the place they live is not compatible with the 5G technology so they wouldn’t purchase the newest iPhone 12.

Apple decided to remove the charger and the earphones from the box to reduce the packing by 70% in 2020, and 8% of people said they wouldn’t buy the phone because the company dropped the charger. 5% of participants prefer Android or other alternative operating systems in general, and 3% said the technical features are not impressive, so they wouldn’t purchase the new iPhone 12. However, 6% of the respondents said they would buy the iPhone 12 series.

This result shows that not everyone that uses a smartphone is a fan of the iPhone.

Android VS iOS (iPhone 12)

In line with this, 30% of participants said that longer software support attracts them the most to iPhone 12, and 27% believe that iPhone 12 features like specs, camera, and design attract them the most. Notably, 13% said that the compact form factor. Following after, 8% of people think that the prices are why iPhone 12 attracts them.

In addition, 7% replied that 5G connectivity is what attracts them the most to Apple iPhone 12. Plus, 4% prefer iPhone 12 because of better privacy protection. And 4% of respondents note that the user interface is the reason they prefer Apple over Android. However, 6% said that Android offers overall better options than iPhone 12.

To continue, 48% of Android users consider buying the newest iPhone 12, and 28% of them somewhat consider buying it also. However, 18% said they wouldn’t consider buying the latest Apple mobile phone (iPhone 12 series). Meanwhile, 7% of the respondents are already iPhone users.

From this data, we can conclude that most Android users would consider buying the new iPhone 12. This can be a curiosity or just a change of device, or a unique experience with other operating systems than Android.
