Atlanta-born rapper Kanye West recently lost his billionaire status. There has been a ruckus in society resulting from brands dropping Kanye West after a series of antisemitic remarks he’d made over the past month.

Kanye West, whose new legal name is now Ye, is a multi-talented billionaire polymath, American rapper, songwriter, record producer, and fashion designer.

Throughout the past weeks, the rapper has spread antisemitic conspiracy theories in interviews and through Kanye’s antisemitic and controversial posts, which has resulted in several brands dropping Kanye West. The “White Lives Matter” t-shirt worn by the rapper during the Paris Fashion Week earlier this year was also labeled hate speech by the Anti-Defamation League.

One of the largest sportswear giants, Adidas, announced that it had ended its partnership with Ye after his tweets violated the company’s values. In response to the rapper’s G.O.O.D. music label announcement, Def Jam announced it had severed ties with the rapper. The label is no longer affiliated with Ye. Gap has effectively ended its relationship with him, and all YeezyGap merchandise has been removed from its shelves. He continues to be dropped by more brands.

Talent agency CAA announced it had dropped Ye, while the Balenciaga fashion house has also reportedly cut ties with the rapper following the Kanye West controversy.
