The DC Extended Universe (DCEU) has undergone numerous changes under the newly-appointed Co-Presidents James Gunn and Peter Safran. In their ten-year plan for the company, several planned DCEU movies have been scrapped, and actors and characters are reported to have been recast as well. This makes the future of the DCEU a mystery to the public.

According to reports, the most notable James Gunn and Peter Safran’s changes for the DCEU are the cancellations of Patty Jenkins’ third Wonder Woman installment, Wonder Woman 3, the call off of Jaume Collet-Serra’s Black Adam (2021) sequel, Jason Momoa as Aquaman is also reportedly going to be recast as another DC character, Lobo.

Amidst all the reported changes in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s 10-year plan for the DCEU, there were also reports that Henry Cavill’s future as Superman was not guaranteed.

Real Research, an online survey app, launched a survey on James Gunn and Peter Safran’s massive changes for the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) as reported in their ten-year plan.

The General Sentiments Around DC Extended Universe

Real Research asked the respondents how they felt about the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). 49.62% replied they like DCEU films, 28.76% said they enjoy DCEU films but felt they could be better, 13.45% said they don’t enjoy the DCEU films but respects those who do, while 4.29% did not like the DCEU films at all, and 3.88% did not enjoy DCEU films but have hopes for it.

We followed up by asking which was their favorite DC film; Wonder Woman 1984 (12.53%) grabbed first place, Black Adam (12.42%) was second, and Batman vs Superman (9.75%) ranked third. The next top favorites were as follows, The Suicide Squad (9.29%), Birds of Prey (8.96%), Aquaman (8.33%), and Wonder Woman (8.17%).

We asked them what they felt about James Gunn and Peter Safran’s changes to the DCEU. 48.22% of our respondents liked them, 32.11 % did not trust their decision, and 19.67% neither liked nor trusted their decisions.

We enquired about how they felt about James Gunn as a director. 36.23% of Real Research respondents love his movies, 28.28% enjoy his movies, 24.06% neither like nor dislike his movies, and 7.91% do not enjoy his movies.

James Gunn as the CEO of DC Studios

We asked them how they felt about James Gunn as the new chairman and CEO of DC Studios. Fascinatingly, 46.9% think Gunn will bring positive change to the DCEU, 37.35% feel he will bring a fresh perspective to the DCEU, 11.57% think he’s going bring neither positive nor positive changes, 2.11% feel he will ruin the DCEU.

The Most Rumored Changes

We asked them what they felt about the rumored cancelation of Wonder Woman 3. 18.98% want Gal Gadot to remain as Wonder Woman despite the movie being canceled, 15.27% do not want Gal Gadot in the DCEU at all, 14.86% do not like it, but will trust the decision, 14.28% wants Gal Godot to play another DC superhero, and 14.04% say they like it.

When asked about recasting Jason Momoa from Aquaman as Lobo. 16.45% expressed their desire for Jason Momoa to remain as Aquaman, 15.6% said they like it, 13.46% said they are excited to see Jason Momoa as Lobo, 11.17% wanted a different actor to play Aquaman, 11.15% wanted a different actor to play Lobo, and 9.65% says they do not trust this decision.

We asked them what they think about the rumored cancelation of a Black Adam sequel. 29.54% want Black Adam to return to the DCEU, 25.87% like it, 25.29% do not like it but will trust this decision, and 19.3% do not trust this decision.

The most anticipated reply was about the return of Henry Cavill as Superman. 48.34% like it, 25.26% do not like it but trust this decision, 14.61% do not trust this decision, and 7.63% want a different actor to play Superman.

In Conclusion:

We asked them how successful they felt about James Gunn and Peter Safran’s changes for the DCEU in their ten-year plan. 45.49% felt it will take some time but turned out amazing, 28.6% thinks it will work out perfectly, and 25.91% thinks that it will be a colossal failure.
