Many things in today’s society can cause stress. It is essential to recognize that how one feels about a situation is vital in triggering stress. It is also necessary to remember that stress can vary from person to person.

Nonetheless, there are many ways to help control it, and stress management may be effective in improving overall health. For this reason, Real Research, an online survey app, launched a survey on ways to relieve stress to find out how the public is managing their own stress.

Life’s Stressful

We all feel stressed at times, but what one person finds stressful may be very different from what another finds stressful. The survey starts by asking respondents if they experience stress. In response, the majority (44.49%) constantly feel stressed, whereas 25.21% experience it rarely. In contrast, 15.77% never had it.

Multiple aspects of one’s life can be a source to cause someone stress. The survey wants to determine which aspect of life vastly contributes to stress. Results show that respondents’ professional aspect (33.28%) of life contributes most to their stress. Others say it’s their academic life (13.71%), financial aspect (11.85%), and social aspect (10%).

Ways to Relieve Stress

While everyone feels stress at times, reactions to stress differ for each person. The survey results reveal that 26.25% of respondents shut everything and everyone out when they feel stressed. Unfortunately, 19.41% stress even more, while 13.08% become unproductive. Others become unmotivated (12.63%) and irritated (10.17%).

Regarding ways to relieve stress, 27.25% engage in being physically active. 13.87% try to improve their sleep, while 13.71% reach out to family and friends. In comparison, 7.56% enhance their diet and overall health, and 6.15% seek professional help.

The effects of stress can manifest in many different ways. Accordingly, the Relieve Stress survey asks what could be the most significant consequence of stress. Respondents answered the following: high blood pressure (29.24%), heart disease (14.14%), obesity and diabetes (9.32%), sleep troubles (8.46%), and chronic headaches (8.45%).

Mental Health Is as Serious as a Physical Ailment

68% of respondents believe stress and other mental and emotional health concerns are as severe as physical health concerns. Leaving only 32% who believe physical issues are more complex than mental health ones.

Furthermore, the survey asks if respondents would be willing to seek professional help in curbing physical and mental stress symptoms. 30.75% say most definitely, and 19.22% say definitely. On the other hand, 14.67% say definitely not, and 11.87% say most definitely not.

Lastly, survey results further revealed that 34.91% are willing to try medications to curb stress. Another 20.97% are somehow considering it, whereas 18.77% are unwilling.
